I'm a newer user to Arch and Linux in general. I've got a pretty robust installation running on my computer with Fluxbox, PCManFM and SLiM for the graphical side (if these matter). Everything's running pretty well at the moment except I'd like to be able to auto-mount USB storage devices. Without adding the udev rule as mentioned here (because I would like the mounting to persist through a terminal window popping open), what's the best way to have things auto-mount like they do in Ubuntu or Windows? By this I mean I would plug in a USB flash drive and it'd automatically be mounted to somewhere like /media/<device name>/ and any user (or the one running x? or something) would have permissions to view/edit/execute.

@sabhay-sardana have you looked at SAMBA? I haven't tried it on Onion but it is available for OpenWrt. Take a look at this link: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/nas/usb-storage-samba-webinterface Luci is just a web interface but you can configure SAMBA manually. You could also use NFS.

@David-Vo Look at this and this if you have errors regarding a kernel version mismatch for the kmod-fs-ext4 package.

Post some logs when it's restarting, otherwise it'll be hard to guess.

According to the documentation, the USB storage should be auto mounted but yes i have try to mount it manually and it works! Thanks. root@Omega-Bxxx:~# mount /dev/sda1 /root/mnt

Why multiple posts, Mike? Why not resurect the old post where all your details were posted? You can't honestly claim that your issue has been left unresolved for a year when YOU are not responsive for a year... This clogs the forum, imo!

I too have been trying the pivot-overlay approach to expand my root fiilesystem so that I may add new development tools. I am able to 'see', mount, and touch my ext4 formatted USB drive, but I am not able to edit my /etc/config/fstab file, since the partition is reported as 'read-only'. What am I missing? How can I get around this?

you can use usb and have your source code on it, then just run it from there

Sorry for the late reply. I finally got around to taking a few pictures of the board. I'm still having the same issue, and the Omega is running on the latest firmware. I did notice one pin on the header was left unsoldered, there doesn't seem to be a trace going there though. I tried to add some solder there, but there isn't a pad for it to adhere to.
